CLOSED-LOOP PROGRAM
We’re currently developing a circular end-of-life plan for every 4ocean product. Our aim is to eliminate waste at the end of our product lifecycle by taking back 4ocean products that our customers no longer use so they can be properly recycled or transformed into new products. Once you’re done with your 4ocean product, please reach out to our customer service team to receive a prepaid shipping label.

The 4ocean Closed-Loop Program is only available in the U.S. for now, but we plan to expand in the future.

It’s not sharks we should fear, but an ocean without them

We want to see as many sharks as we can. It’s important to understand that when you see sharks, it’s a sure sign of a healthy reef.

Project AWARE®

With more than 4oo million years of evolution behind them, sharks have survived all kinds of planet-altering events while many other species simply vanished. In the last few decades, however, some shark populations have declined by as much as 80 percent due to threats like plastic pollution, overfishing, and habitat loss.

As apex predators, sharks are uniquely vulnerable to plastic and chemical pollution. Plastic in the environment absorbs toxins from the surrounding seawater. These toxins accumulate in the tissues of prey species that eat ocean plastic. When sharks consume their prey, they also absorb its toxic load. These toxins can inhibit reproductive function and interfere with population recovery.

Sharks play a crucial role in keeping the ocean environment balanced and healthy. They feed on the sick and weak; they also help control fish populations that could become destructive if left unchecked. They are the protectors of the ocean, but now they need to be protected from our plastic waste.

To advance shark conservation and support ocean cleanups, we donated $29,648 to Project AWARE in 2018 and will donate another $10,000 at the end of 2019. Our donations will support their #Divers4Makos and Dive Against Debris initiatives.
Hand assembled by an artisan in Bali, Indonesia.
Purchasing a 4ocean bracelet does more than clean the ocean. It also creates sustainable, living-wage jobs.

As soon as our beads, cords, and charms reach our main facility in Denpasar, Bali, a crew loads up our van and motorbikes to distribute these components to artisans in remote villages scattered across the island.

Women comprise 80 percent of this workforce. In Bali, women tend to assume the role of primary caretakers for their families, which means their job opportunities are limited. Because they’re able to hand assemble our bracelets in their homes and village centers, more women are able to join the workforce while continuing to care for their families.
